ok heres the idea
having a list of custom clans avaiable for members creating a character
be it a clan with a kekkeigenkai or jutsu the clan specalise in
Rules:
as the creator knows the in's and outs of the clan they will know how to use them the best so...
the clan creator determines wether or not a character be accepted for the clan, determined by requirements laid out
if they have certain requirements for the clan then they will have to be resonable in the entry requirements
the creator will need to put a restriction on jutsu's and abilities
a cap on the maximum amount of members should be added so were not over run with a desirable clan: I.e. a maximum of 4 more members at least two must be genin or acadmey ranks
oh easier ill use my own Shokubutsu clan for this (un-edited version for example purposes):

Kekkei Genkai: Nature Release
Description:
Working in a similar manner to the wood release
This technique gives the unique ability of controlling the natural environment. This means that they will be able to control plant life.
The plant life is controlled by causing plants to grow at a rapid rate enabling those with the kekkei genkai to either attack or defend with any form of plant. This can be used for offence and defence purposes. It also enables tham to to control the likes of leaves causing them to harden and become sharp to be used as individual weapons. Like shuriken.
Creatures such as small mammals can be communicated with through their kekkei genkai, this is very handy for recon purposes.

Clan History:
This clan origionated in the hidden grass village and remain there loyal to the village. Often other villages will call upon them due to their unique abilities with plants. Often they are requested to produce medicinal herbs in other villages throughout the nations.
The clan are the maintainers of the village and take it upon themselves to ensure that the village is well protected with plant life as well as ensuring that they keep the villages medicinal supply well stocked up.

This jutsu allows the user to create a whip from any form of plant. They prefere thorny plants for this as the hardening of the thorns will allow them to cause more damage while using the whips.

Description:
By using seeds this jutsu allows the user to grow poisonous plants on the opponent. As the plant grows on the users body thorns will scrape and penetrate the opponents skin. As this happens the toxins and poisons are injected into the opponent. First this will make them ill and eventually kill them if untreated. The clan members always carry a good supply of the antidote for these plants.
Taijutsu (C-ranked) will require shinobi that specialise in taijutsu and also will need to be at least genin level

Description:
This jutsu allows the user to greate a dragon from either existing plant life or rapidly grown plant life. through the users kekkei genkai they can control the dragon as they please. Using it to fire cannonballs of plants, vines to bind the opponent or simply attack. As this is controlled with great ease through the kekkei genkai the user will be able to use other jutsu’s as they please
If required the user will be able to make the dragon fly using it as a form of transport

This Jutsu allows the user to create a thick defensive wall of rapidly grown plantation around one village to protect it from oncoming attacks. This jutsu will mainly be used if an enemy attack is coming from the air.
This clan is Unique to the hidden rock village. although they are often hired by other villages due to their kekkei genkai, they must however origionate in the Rock Village to begin with
A short RP sample will be required for this clan to see how you will be using it with your character
